Several articles in the national press have highlighted the participation of CeBiB researchers in projects related to the pandemic. Alexandra Galetovic, from the University of Antofagasta, developed a new diagnostic tool based on Nanopores for respiratory viruses and, together with colleagues from the University of Magallanes, she is part of the SARS-CoV-2 virus genomic surveillance network. (El Mercurio de Antogafasta, April 2021, Emol, May 2021) https://www.emol.com/noticias/Nacional/2021/05/14/1020858/universidades-sequenciacion- genomica-covid.html . Along the same line, the researcher Alvaro Olivera has also worked on mathematical models that analyze different measures taken by the government (El Mercurio, June 2020). More recently this collaboration resulted in the paper “Mutation in a SARS-CoV-2 Haplotype from Sub-Antarctic Chile Reveals New Insights into the Spike’s Dynamics”, Viruses 2021, 13, 883. https://res.mdpi.com/d_attachment/viruses/viruses-13- 00883/article_deploy/viruses-13-00883-v2.pdf
